Meet Amy Bernstein, Au.D., FAAA

Amy Bernstein, Au.D., FAAA completed her Bachelor of Arts cum laude with a degree in Hearing and Speech Sciences at the University of Maryland and her Doctorate in Audiology at the University of Memphis. She gained diverse training in hearing and balance assessments and treatments in private practices, ENT offices, hospitals, and schools. She also published a peer-reviewed article on the ability of musical training to resist noise-induced hearing loss in Hearing Research. She wrote articles for Hearing Life magazine on the history of hearing aids and on Bluetooth technology in hearing aids. Dr. Bernstein has also given presentations to multiple organizations about Bluetooth technology in hearing aids as well as a presentation on the Principles of Audiology and on factors that affect successful hearing aid outcomes and potential solutions called Why Don’t My Hearing Aids Work for Me? She has also presented on the topic of over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids and was interviewed on the radio on WERA Arlington 96.7 FM for the Aging Matters program on the same topic, which can be found on Apple Podcast and Spotify Podcast.

Dr. Bernstein specializes in personalizing hearing aid fittings for each patient using advanced, modern techniques to program hearing aids in a way that accounts for the individual’s hearing loss, environment, lifestyle, and personal preferences. She takes pride in ensuring the satisfaction of her patients through verification and individualized, family-centered care. She also specializes in taking ear impressions and fitting custom earpieces for musicians. As a musically-trained individual and lover of music herself, Dr. Bernstein enjoys teaching her patients about hearing protection and ways to prevent hearing loss. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and the Academy of Doctors of Audiology. She holds licenses in audiology and hearing aid dispensing in Virginia.
